The Harvest Hub

A Fresh Take On Community Supported Agriculture CSA

Welcome to Our Weekly, Hyper-Local Virtual Farmers Market

At Hansel Hill Farm, our CSA isn't your traditional, pay-up-front-for-surprise-veggies kind of deal. We've reimagined the model, keeping the heart of community-supported agriculture while making it more flexible, more inclusive, and more convenient for modern life.

We call it The Harvest Hub, but really, it’s your community market.

What Is A CSA, Anyway?

CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture—a collaborative effort between farmers and producers to provide local, fresh food to the community. Traditionally, members pay upfront for a season’s worth of boxes from a single farm.

Not here.

We’ve made it better.

How The Harvest Hub works:

Instead of committing to a full season, you decide week by week what you want to buy. It’s like Instacart for local food with a conscience.

  • FREE to join. No upfront fees. No subscriptions.

  • Buy what you want, when you want. Each week, our Harvest Hub organizer posts a curated list of items available for pickup.

  • Order from multiple local producers in one go. From eggs to elderberry syrup, soaps to sourdough, everything is sourced nearby.

  • Choose your pickup location:

    • 📍Millersville – Fridays from 2–8 PM or Saturdays from 7–11 AM

    • 📍Crofton – Fridays from 2–8 PM

    • 📍Takoma Park – (coming soon, currently limited options)

Why The Harvest Hub Is Different

We offer a customized, curated CSA process that allows you to purchase only the products you want. This extra step in customizing your own box gives you greater flexibility and control over the products you want to pick up week over week.

Most CSAs:

  • Require seasonal buy-ins in January

  • Offer fixed weekly boxes you can't customize

  • Only work with one farm

The Harvest Hub:

  • Lets you opt in weekly (no pressure, no waste)

  • Supports multiple small producers, not just one

  • Offers a variety of pick-up sites

  • Brings the farmers market to your fingertips

You can still call it a CSA—for now—but it’s truly something new. The Harvest Hub is a grassroots collaboration that started in Crofton during COVID, and continues to evolve, grow, and connect neighbors with the freshest local food.

How To Participate In
The Harvest Hub

Joining our community market is easy and flexible. Here’s how it works:

1. Choose a vendor you’re interested in.

You can order from:

  • One vendor

  • A few vendors

  • Or all of them… it’s totally up to you!

2. Place your order

On each vendor’s website, browse their available products and add what you want to your cart. When you check out, you’ll be asked to choose a pickup location.

Pick from one of the three pick-up locations—this is where your complete order will be available for pick up on Friday.

  • 📍 Millersville (Hansel Hill Farm)

  • 📍 Crofton

  • 📍 Takoma Park

👉 Important: Be sure to select the same pickup location for every vendor you order from. This helps us make sure all your items are gathered in one place, ready for you at the right location.

3. Complete these steps for every vendor you want included in your Harvest Hub order.

Whether you order from one vendor or all of them, by selecting the same pickup location, each

4. Pick up your order

Your items will be delivered to the pickup site you selected during checkout.

Here’s when and where:

  • Millersville (Hansel Hill Farm, 1017 Hansel Drive)

    • Fridays: 2 PM – 8 PM

    • Saturdays: 7 AM – 11 AM

  • Crofton (2309 Fairhaven Lane)

    • Fridays: 2 PM – 8 PM

    • Please coordinate with @Elizabeth Argo-Wilbanks in advance if needed

The Harvest Hub: Frequently Asked Questions

  • CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. Traditionally, it’s a seasonal subscription where customers pay upfront to receive a weekly box of produce from one farm.

    Our version:
A weekly, flexible, virtual farmers market connecting you to multiple local producers—no upfront commitment required.

  • Traditional CSA

    • Pay upfront in January

    • One farm, one box

    • No control over what’s in your box

    • Fixed pickup location

    • Seasonal subscription

    The Harvest Hub:

    • Free to all - pay only when you order

    • Multiple farms + local makers in one place

    • Box contents are disclosed prior to ordering so you decide if you want one that week, or not

    • Multiple pickup locations (Millersville, Crofton, Takoma Park)

    • Weekly participation, no pressure

We call it The Harvest Hub and it’s really more like a virtual community market, rooted in real, local relationships.

  • You don’t have to “join” anything to participate. The Harvest Hub is open to everyone… order as often (or as little) as you like.

Want to know what’s available each week? Scan the QR code above or search for “Millersville CSA” on Facebook to join our private group. We share weekly updates, ordering links, pickup reminders, and a whole lot of community love.

  • Every week’s offerings change, but you might see:

    • Fresh local produce from Full Circle Farm

    • Rainbow eggs, raw honey, and coffee from Hansel Hill

    • Grass-fed meats and cheeses (via Grassfed on the Hill)

    • Seasonal flower bouquets (Joy and June Farm)

    • Natural skincare from MWAH Body

    • Household refill products from Refill Goodness

    • And much more!

  • Each week, we post a fresh round-up of participating vendors: what’s available changes often, so be sure to check the Facebook group or our website weekly to see what’s new.

    When you're ready:

    1. Click on the vendor links

    2. Browse and shop directly on their sites

    3. Choose your pickup location when you check out

Some vendors accept orders through Wednesday evening, while others are open until Thursday night, so the earlier you look, the more options you'll have!

We recommend setting a little reminder to check in each week—it’s like visiting a farmers market, but online and on your own schedule.

Be sure to follow instructions for each site, especially for pickup location selection.

    • 📍Millersville – Fridays from 2–8 PM or Saturdays from 7–11 AM

    • 📍Crofton – Fridays from 2–8 PM

    • 📍Takoma Park – (coming soon, currently limited options)

  • You can absolutely buy from just one vendor. There are no pre-made boxes and no minimums. Pick what you need, when you need it.

  • Great question! The Harvest Hub offers the same great local goods with added convenience:

    • No parking headaches

    • No crowded booths

    • Order from your couch, pick up everything at once

    • Great for busy parents, caregivers, or folks who want local food without the logistics

Think of it as “Instacart for your farmers market” but better, because it supports your neighbors.

  • We prioritize producers who are hyper-local in or near Millersville, Crofton, and Takoma Park. Even vendors who source regionally (like Grassfed on the Hill) are vetted for quality and sustainability.

  • Possibly! Email us at hanselhillov@gmail.com and tell us about your products. We’re always looking to expand our network of thoughtful, community-oriented producers.

    1. Wait for the “pickup post” to go live in the Facebook group

    2. Head to your selected pickup site

    3. Have your items ready by Friday 2 PM (or as noted by the vendor)

    4. Questions or issues? Follow up with the vendor directly, or email us and we’ll help troubleshoot

  • Each vendor handles missed pickups differently, but communication goes a long way. If you miss your pickup window, please reach out to the CSA Manager, Sarah at sarahevans319@gmail.com. If you are missing items you ordered, or there is something wrong with the items you purchased, please contact the vendor directly.
